Forbidden Fruit A Flavor Has is the fifth episode of the second season of Dickinson. It is the fifteenth episode of the series overall.

Synopsis[]

When she learns that Sam plans to publish her poem, Emily embraces being his latest discovery while attending one of Sue's salons.

Plot[]

Emily is nervous about attending her first party after Sam agreed to publish her poem and goes alone while the rest of the Dickinsons have a quiet night in. At the party, Emily learns of rumors about Sam sleeping with other female writers he has published. Emily asks Sue about these rumors, and Sue says they're not true.

Later during the lecture, Emily and Sam go to the library where Sam shows Emily where her work will be once she's published.

Emily later fantasizes about having sex with Sam as she writes a letter to his wife Mary.

Ship continues to believe that Lavinia is a prim and proper woman, and Lavinia continues to tell him she's not. They roleplay from The Scarlet Letter, and Ship realizes that Lavinia is different from how he remembered her.

Sue is obsessed with hosting the perfect party and having Sam write a glowing article about her salon in his newspaper.

She and Austin get into another fight about the Newman girls. Austin helps Henry, Hattie, and others secure a printing press to print their secret African-American newspaper and disseminate it to the masses.
